U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska, alongside several Senate colleagues, has introduced the PLO and PA Terror Payments Accountability Act. This proposed legislation aims to impose sanctions on individuals and entities abroad that provide financial support to Palestinian terrorists and their families through a system operated by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Senator Sullivan stated, "The Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization have incentivized the anti-Semitic killings of Israelis and Americans through their barbaric ‘pay for slay’ policies for years." He emphasized that it is unacceptable for Palestinian terrorists, including those involved in mass killings on October 7th, to receive payments for their actions. "Our legislation will levy severe sanctions on institutions and groups that facilitate or financially support these horrific programs," he added.
The bill is led by Senators Tom Cotton from Arkansas and Tim Scott from South Carolina. It has garnered additional support from Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, Pete Ricketts of Nebraska, Ted Budd of North Carolina, Eric Schmitt of Missouri, Marco Rubio of Florida, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Rick Scott of Florida, John Cornyn of Texas, and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
