The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced on May 5 that it will hold its annual Arctic Research Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at the West Ridge of the Troth Yeddha’ Campus in Fairbanks.
The event is open to the public and aims to connect the community with research taking place in Fairbanks and across Alaska and the Arctic. Organizers say that attendees will have opportunities to participate in activities, meet scientists, watch live demonstrations, and win prizes.
To mark the occasion and highlight local efforts, a free ice cream social will be hosted by the UAF vice chancellor for research. The event is designed for all ages but minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Free public parking will be available in lots along Koyukuk Drive. More information can be found on the event website or Facebook page.
The university said this open house is intended as a family-friendly way for residents to learn about ongoing scientific work rooted in their community.
