Thirteen members of the Alaska Nanooks cross country teams have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference Team, presented by Barnes & Noble College. The announcement was made on October 9, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.
Head coach Conrad Haber expressed satisfaction with his team’s achievements in both academics and athletics. “Academics are a priority for us, but it’s still impressive that a team comprised primarily of science and engineering majors can manage to excel both in the classroom and at competitions,” Haber said.
To qualify for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.20, be in at least their second season with their team, and have competed during the 2025 season.
The women’s team had seven athletes selected: Sarah Baum, Lucca Duke, Riga Grubis, Jasmin Holst, Teegan Silva, Tabitha Williams, and Madison Schuh. Both Baum and Silva received this honor for the third time. Baum is a senior from Summerfield, North Carolina majoring in geosciences with a 3.52 GPA. Silva is a senior from Chelan, Washington also majoring in geosciences with a 3.82 GPA.
Tabitha Williams earned her second GNAC All-Academic honor as a junior digital journalism major from Canmore, Alberta with a 3.57 GPA. The other four honorees—Lucca Duke (sophomore biological sciences major from Anchorage), Riga Grubis (sophomore biological sciences major from Fairbanks), Jasmin Holst (sophomore mechanical engineering major from Juneau), and Madison Schuh (sophomore wildlife biology and conservation major from Anchorage)—were first-time recipients with GPAs ranging from 3.40 to 3.90.
On the men’s side, Curtis Beck, Ben Dohlby, Blake Hanley, Ruben Rhodes, Clem Taylor-Roth, and Paxson Ott were recognized. Dohlby was honored for the second time; he is a junior civil engineering major from Pewaukee, Wisconsin with a 3.63 GPA.
The remaining male recipients are all first-time honorees: Curtis Beck (sophomore mechanical engineering major from Fairbanks) has a 3.33 GPA; Blake Hanley (sophomore homeland security major from Anchorage) holds a 3.94 GPA; Ruben Rhodes (sophomore chemistry major from Anchorage) has achieved a 3.90 GPA; Clem Taylor-Roth (senior electrical engineering major from Juneau) maintains a 3.50 GPA; and Paxson Ott (biological sciences sophomore from Fairbanks) leads with a 3.96 GPA.
The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams will continue their season this weekend at the Lewis Crossover event in Romeoville, Illinois.
