U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska has announced his leadership roles for the 119th Congress. He will serve as deputy whip for the Senate Republican Conference, chair the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, and lead the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Coast Guard, Maritime, and Fisheries.
Senator Sullivan expressed optimism about the new Senate Republican majority's potential to implement President Trump's agenda. He stated, "The new Senate Republican majority has a great opportunity to enact President Trump’s agenda to unleash American energy, build up our military readiness, strengthen our national security, and revitalize our economy."
In his role as chair of the Readiness and Management Support Subcommittee, Sullivan highlighted its critical function in overseeing the Defense Department and supporting military preparedness. He remarked on the current global threats: "As we face one of the most dangerous periods since World War II with dictators on the march and increasingly working together." He emphasized his focus on enhancing military lethality and ensuring service members are well-trained and equipped.
Sullivan also looks forward to improving infrastructure in Alaska and across America through his leadership in the Commerce Committee. He aims to bolster national security alongside commercial and economic opportunities by advancing infrastructure, broadband, and maritime capabilities.
Additionally, Sullivan will continue his involvement with Senator Barrasso’s team as a deputy whip. "I am looking forward to working with this administration and with my Senate colleagues to get our country back on track," he concluded.
