U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) has reminded high school students in Alaska of the February 28 deadline to participate in a public awareness campaign focused on the dangers of fentanyl. This initiative is part of the "One Pill Can Kill – Alaska" campaign, which was launched by Senator Sullivan in May 2024. The campaign has been highlighted through various community visits and student sessions across multiple locations in Alaska.

Senator Sullivan emphasized the importance of involving young Alaskans in this effort: “Fighting the deadly fentanyl crisis in our state means enlisting the help of all Alaskans,” he stated. He noted that youth are particularly impacted by this crisis and motivated to take action, adding, “By harnessing the creative and bright minds of Alaska’s next generation of leaders, we can finally turn the tide against this horrendous plague on our communities.”

The competition invites groups of high school students to create a media campaign using "One Pill Can Kill" messaging to highlight fentanyl's dangers and promote awareness about non-prescription drug use risks. Students can utilize various mediums such as posters, advertisements, or social media videos. Participation is open to both traditional and home-schooled students.

After launching their campaigns, participants must submit a report detailing their efforts to Senator Sullivan’s communications team at helen_martin@sullivan.senate.gov. All campaigns will be showcased on Senator Sullivan's website, with the winning entry collaborating with his team for broader distribution across various media platforms in Alaska.
