U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska has announced the nomination of 37 Alaskan youths to various U.S. Military Service Academies for the class of 2029. These nominations, a critical step in the appointment process, were made with input from an Academy Review Board composed of eleven members, many of whom are graduates themselves.

Senator Sullivan expressed his enthusiasm for this aspect of his duties, stating, "It is a highlight of my job to nominate young Alaskans to our nation’s prestigious military service academies." He praised the nominees for their diverse backgrounds and community involvement, noting their hard work and dedication to serving others.

Sullivan also extended gratitude towards the review board members for their voluntary efforts in strengthening the selection process. He encouraged more young Alaskans to explore opportunities at these academies in future years.

The list includes nominations to four different academies: the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy (West Point), and U.S. Naval Academy. The nominated individuals hail from various parts of Alaska and include several military dependents.

Nominations are essential as they allow candidates to compete for academy appointments offered individually by each institution. This collaborative effort among Alaska's congressional delegation aims to maximize opportunities for Alaskan men and women aspiring to join these esteemed institutions.

The announcement does not include nominations for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy since it does not require a Congressional nomination as part of its application process.
