U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan has introduced legislation aimed at ending U.S. cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC). This move comes in response to the ICC's recent decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, a decision that has faced widespread condemnation.
The proposed legislation would bar the United States from providing funding or cooperating with the ICC. Additionally, it seeks to prevent economic support funds under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 from being allocated to the Palestinian Authority.
Senator Sullivan expressed strong disapproval of the ICC's actions, stating, "The ICC’s false moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas is reprehensible and dangerous." He emphasized that Israel is dealing with significant threats and criticized what he described as a rogue organization. Sullivan called for an end to American cooperation with the ICC, urging support for Israel, which he referred to as "our strongest ally in the Middle East—the only democracy in the region."
This legislative initiative reflects bipartisan criticism of the ICC's decision within U.S. political circles.
