U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan from Alaska has voiced his opposition to the Biden administration's recent decision to halt all pending non-Free-Trade Agreement export permit applications, which effectively stops new permits for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.

Senator Sullivan criticized the move, stating, "Once again, President Biden has caved to far-left extremists, choosing politics over the actual climate science, gutting the American workforce, and putting America’s national security and our allies at risk." He further argued that exporting clean-burning natural gas from America reduces global emissions and helps allies reduce reliance on Russian gas.

Despite the pause on new permits, Sullivan noted that "the Alaska LNG project already received all of its export permits and remains a viable source of clean-burning energy for America and our allies."

In response to the administration's decision, Senator Sullivan and 25 other Senate colleagues sent a letter to President Biden and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm expressing their disapproval of the pause.
