WOW.  Dramatic #TBT photos from March 2015: Dalton Highway MP 397-405 flooding from Sag River - the unprecedented massive flooding closed the road for 28 days. For perspective, check out the second photo - those delineators are usually at least 5 feet above road surface!

As the water receded, our AWESOME DOT crews and contractor partners diligently worked to safely reopen the road. Over the next four months, they hauled 1.3 million tons of gravel and raised the road between MP 397-405 from two feet above ground to 7-10 feet above ground. Work to further improve and protect the road resumed in early 2016, and continued through spring. (2) Dalton Highway covered by 3-4 feet of ice from flooding; delineators are usually 5 feet above road. By Alaska DOT&PF.
