Winter Approaches

As winter approaches, daylight is fading fast in #Alaska. It's SO important to keep in mind that reflective clothing and lights worn by pedestrians have a high-alert impact on passing drivers. Whether you walk or roll while out enjoying the crisp fall air this weekend, please stay alert!

Pedestrians: Wearing a reflector at the approximate height of a car's headlights will help drivers to see you. Studies show that a combination of reflective material and motion is most effective at increasing visibility!

Drivers: This is the time to sharpen those safe driving practices and to watch for pedestrians at all times.

October is Pedestrian Safety Month! If your family or organization would like free reflectors, please contact DOT&PF's Statewide Bike-Ped coordinator: https://dot.alaska.gov/stwdplng/cip/stip/projects/TAP.shtml
