Chena River State Recreation Site

Progress was made this week at the Chena River State Recreation Site. Please remember that the site is still CLOSED to the public for all use.  Help those working on the clean-up effort by reporting suspicious activity.

***CHENA RIVER STATE RECREATION SITE UPDATE:

While clean-up work has successfully begun at the Chena River State Recreation Site, this is a reminder that the area remains CLOSED to the public for all use until further notice. Unfortunately, there have been some that have continued to enter the site and cause further damage, which only slows down area restoration.

Please do your part to help the Division of Forestry and others working to clean-up the area, and report any suspicious activity that you witness by calling 911 or the dispatch non-emergency line at 907-459-6800.

Thank you to our partners at the Fairbanks Rescue Mission that have been onsite this week assisting with the clean-up effort and have offered services to the few folks that were staying at the park.

The public can expect an increase in workers at the site on Monday, August 8th.
