UPDATE The Bear Creek Bridge at MP 233 Richardson Highway remains OPEN to traffic with pilot cars. DOT&PF crews continue to assess damage and are working on making necessary repairs.
This area of Alaska is #SuperDynamic! We've been studying the Rainbow Ridge section of the Richardson Hwy for years and have developed a full list of improvements, one of which is replacing the Bear Creek Bridge.
In response to the flooding, we're going to move the Bear Creek Bridge Replacement project up our construction list, so that the Rich Hwy remains resilient to the forces of nature.
