Fire Danger Extremely High, No Fireworks

Stay safe and keep updated on the Clear Fire - information can be found on the Denali Borough's Facebook page and website: https://www.denaliborough.org/ as well as https://akfireinfo.com/

Alaska fire activity continues to be moderate with only 6 new fires reported yesterday. There are over 800 firefighters currently assigned to multiple fires across the state with incident management teams from the Northern Rockies, the Great Basin, the Southeast, California and Alaska supporting the firefighting efforts on the ground. Crews continue to make good progress on many of the fires despite the Red Flag conditions much of the state has been under these past few days.

With the Fourth of July weekend upon us and the fire danger being extremely high, it is important to remember that the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Natural Resources / Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, has implemented a suspension on the use of fireworks across much of Alaska including the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Denali Borough, Fairbanks NorthStar Borough, the areas in and around Delta Junction, Tok, and the upper Tanana Valley

Copper River Basin Area. This firework suspension is in place to minimize human caused wildfires fires and allow our limited firefighting resources the opportunity to focus on current wildfires across the state.
