FNSBSD: North Pole High School Principal | February 23, 2022

Fairbanks North Star Borough School District issued the following announcement on February 23.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to announce Michelle Spillane as the new principal for North Pole High School starting with the 2022-2023 school year.  

Michelle Spillane graduated from FNSBSD in 1992, received Alaska teaching certificates in English and History, then a Masters in Education at UAF, an endorsement for the district extended learning program courses, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from UAS.  She  joined FNSBSD in 2003 as an intern at Tanana Middle School. After owning Young Learners Preschool for eight years while raising their two small children, she returned to teach again at Tanana Middle School and Ryan Middle School. In 2020, Michelle moved to North Pole High School as an assistant principal in 2020, taking the interim principal position in December of 2021.

"Michelle has been a pivotal leader during this past year with NPH. I welcome Michelle to her new leadership position and look forward to her continued success in our school district."  said Karen Melin, Chief School Administrator.

Michelle Spillane’s dedication to education is shown through her leadership.  She brings years of experience serving her staff and families.  

Principal Spillane says, “I am honored to serve as principal of the North Pole High School community. I'm excited to continue my journey from assistant principal to principal, building relationships with students, staff and families. I am eagerly looking forward to celebrating the many strengths we have here at NPHS."
