The Alaska Nanooks Nordic skiing team has announced the addition of P.J. Bragonier to its roster for the upcoming season.
Assistant coach Ben Buck commented on the recruitment, stating, “We are excited to invite another homegrown Fairbanks talent to the roster! FXC has developed numerous highly talented athletes over the years, and P.J. is no exception. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him during the next stage of his academic and athletic career.”
Bragonier, who grew up in Fairbanks and attended West Valley High School, competed for FXC during his high school years. He qualified for the Junior National Championships each year he was eligible and earned a spot on the All-State Ski Team. At the 2023 Junior National Championships, Bragonier finished 23rd in the classic sprint event.
In last season’s U.S. Championships held in Anchorage, he placed 62nd in the classic sprint and later finished 72nd in the U.S. Super Tour freestyle sprint. Bragonier also secured sixth place in the freestyle sprint at Besh Cup 3 & 4 at Birch Hill last January. He ended his 2024-25 season with a 16th-place finish in the freestyle sprint at the National Junior Championships.
Bragonier was recognized as a UA Scholar while attending West Valley High School. He is planning to study Biological Sciences at UAF. His parents are Ben and Carrie Bragonier, and he has one sibling named Estelle.
