Nanooks rifle team sets season-high aggregate to close regular season

The Alaska Nanooks rifle team achieved their highest aggregate score of the season, recording a 4747 at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range in the Patty Center during their regular-season finale. This marks their second time surpassing 4740 this year.

Five Nanooks athletes placed in the individual top 10. Teagan Perkowski led the team with an 1189-90x, securing second place behind TCU’s Katie Zaun (1193-91x). Marshall Schmidt finished fourth with an 1187-78x, followed by Noah Meierotto and Lucie Kissenberger who both scored 1185-87x to take fifth and sixth respectively. Sadie Palfrey rounded out the top ten for Alaska with a ninth-place finish and an aggregate score of 1182-83x.

In the smallbore discipline, Alaska posted a season-high score of 2362 to win the event. TCU was close behind with a score of 2361, while UT Martin finished third with a 2292. Perkowski led all shooters in smallbore with a score of 595-41x. Kissenberger was third at 591-40x, and Schmidt took fifth with a 590-30x. Amanda Pettersen secured sixth place (589-36x), and Meierotto finished ninth (586-34x). Julianna Hays completed the top ten for Alaska in tenth place (586-34x). Other notable finishes included Matthew Stout in thirteenth (583-31x), Palfrey fourteenth (583-31x), and Tobias Bernhoft-Osa sixteenth (581-24x).

In air rifle, Alaska scored a 2385—its third-best performance this season—and finished second behind TCU’s 2389 while surpassing UT Martin’s total of 2337. Meierotto led all competitors in air rifle with a first-place finish at 599-53x; Palfrey followed closely in second at 599-52x. Bernhoft-Osa took fifth (598-50x) and Schmidt seventh (597-48x).

Alaska athletes filled spots thirteen through sixteen: Perkowski shot a 594-49x, Hays also had a 594-49x, Kissenberger recorded a 594-47x, and Pettersen shot a 592-48x. Stout closed out Alaska’s efforts in air rifle with an eighteenth-place finish at 591-47x.

With the regular season complete, Alaska will compete next at the PRC Championships hosted by Ole Miss on February 7–8 before participating in their NCAA Qualifier against UTEP on February 21.
