Interim head coach Ben Buck and the Nanooks Nordic skiing team have announced that Max Beiergrohslein has been hired as their new assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.
“I am thrilled to announce the signing of Max Beiergrohslein as assistant coach for the 2025-26 season!” said Buck. “Max’s experience with Nanook Skiing as a former student-athlete makes him a great asset to the team. His positive energy and strong work ethic complement his knowledge of the sport and of physiology, and I can’t wait to see him continue his development here at UAF!”
Beiergrohslein was part of the Nanooks Nordic skiing program from 2020 to 2024, serving as team captain during his final year. He competed in multiple events over his collegiate career, making his debut at the Utah Invitational in 2022 where he finished 31st in freestyle sprints. He also participated in classic sprints at RMISA Qualifiers, placing 25th, and skied in four events during his junior year including competitions at both RMISA Nordic Qualifiers and Alaska Anchorage Invitational.
In addition to collegiate competition, Beiergrohslein raced with clubs such as Alaska Nordic Racing, Alaska Winter Stars, and APU throughout a nine-year career that included regional and national junior championships. He has also contributed to youth skiing by volunteering as an instructor for Junior Nordic Ski Programs.
Reflecting on his return to Fairbanks, Beiergrohslein stated: “I am super excited to come back to Fairbanks and give it my all for a team that has given me so much!”
Outside of athletics, he worked as a medical assistant at Orthopedic Physicians Alaska between 2024 and 2025 and was a pharmacy technician at Alaska Native Medical Center during summer 2022. Originally from Eagle River, Alaska, Beiergrohslein earned a degree in Biological Sciences from UAF in 2024.
