Nanooks cross country teams finish strong at Bill Roe Classic

The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams competed at the 2025 Bill Roe Classic held at Hovander Park in Ferndale, Washington. The women’s team secured fourth place overall, while the men’s team finished eighth.

In the women’s 6k race, Lucca Duke led Alaska with an eighth-place finish and a time of 21:34.2, earning eight points for her team. Tabitha Williams was next for the Nanooks, finishing 18th in 22:00.9 and adding 16 points. Teegan Silva placed 43rd with a time of 23:34.3 for 30 points. Madison Schuh finished in 50th (24:02.8) followed closely by Riga Grubis in 51st (24:07.1), contributing 36 and 37 points respectively to the team score. Victoria Myers and Devyn Townsend rounded out Alaska’s lineup, finishing in 70th (25:42.5) and 73rd (25:58.9).

The women’s team totaled 127 points for their fourth-place result behind Western Washington (36), Simon Fraser (53), and Central Washington (91). Saint Martin’s finished sixth among Great Northwest Athletic Conference competitors with a score of 142.

On the men’s side, Dexter Delaney led Alaska as he finished eighth in the men’s 8k event with a time of 24:24.3, earning eight points for his performance as a freshman standout. Ian Baker was next for Alaska in 25th place at 25:00.2 for another key scoring position with 21 points contributed to the team’s tally.

Blake Hanley and Finn Morley crossed nearly together, placing third and fourth among Nanooks scorers at positions No.65 (26:03.1) and No.66 (26:04.2). Freshman Nick Iverson completed the scoring lineup with a finish at No.72 in a time of 26:14.2—adding another 51 points.

Other finishers included Brady Benedict (100th/27:06.1), Ned Peters (111th/27:55.1), and Clem Taylor-Roth (113th/28:12.3). The men’s squad compiled a total of 173 points to claim eighth place overall in their race standings.

Western Washington took first place on both sides of competition with identical scores of thirty-six points each; Simon Fraser placed fourth on the men’s side with one hundred thirty-one, Central Washington fifth at one hundred forty, while Saint Martin’s closed out GNAC participation taking tenth place among men’s teams.

Both Alaska squads will compete again October eleventh at the Lewis Crossover meet hosted in Romeoville, Illinois.
