Update: Dec. 11, 2022 at 8 30 p.m.:

This large storm continues to affect Southwest and Southcentral Alaska including #Kenai, #Turnagain Pass, #Girdwood, #Anchorage, and #Matanuska-Susitna Valleys.

The combination of dry, airborne snow, and wind is causing visibility issues on multiple highways (#Sterling, #Seward, #Glenn, #Parks). There is also snow drifting in high wind and open areas. Most highways are being reported as difficult driving conditions, and the Parks is reported as very difficult between Meadow Lakes and Talkeetna, so please be prepared if you are driving this evening.

The department is focusing on keeping Priority One highways open tonight, pushing snow off the road with high speed plows.

#SouthCentral snowstorm response update Sun. 12/11 at 3:45 p.m.

Mother nature got a slow start today, but the storm is now in full swing. We have all available operators and equipment deployed on the state’s highways to respond to the event. We will update this post later tonight with any new information.
