Fairbanks North Star Borough School District issued the following announcement on April 8.

Today, April 7, 2022, North Pole High School was placed on a brief lockdown status to deal with a student dispute in the student parking lot and a potential weapon threat. North Pole Police Department arrived within moments of being contacted and secured the area. As a precautionary measure, North Pole Middle School and North Pole Elementary School were put in lockdown as well. Once North Pole Police confirmed the situation had resolved safely the schools were moved out of lockdown. The entire lockdown for the three schools lasted approximately 15 minutes.
The district will continue to work with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all students. We appreciate the students, staff, and parents for their calm, swift reaction to the lockdown.
We also thank the North Pole Police Department for their immediate response and support.
