Dorka Dancsok of the Nanooks swimming team will compete in four events at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin Wednesday, March 11, in Evansville, Indiana. Dancsok qualified for the championships with a time of 4:23.31 in the 400-yard individual medley and also earned NCAA B Cuts in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard breaststroke.

Her participation marks a significant achievement for the Nanooks program as she is the first swimmer from the team to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Charlotte Fletcher-Stables did so during the 2023-24 season. The competition will take place over four days at Deaconess Aquatic Center, with preliminary heats starting each morning and finals held in the afternoon.

Dancsok returns to national competition after a strong showing at last month’s PCSC Championships. There, she achieved three podium finishes: third place in both the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard breaststroke, and first place in the 400-yard individual medley with her record-setting time that secured her spot at nationals. Her performance placed her seventeenth nationally among Division II swimmers in that event.

During the current season, Dancsok led her team and ranked fourth overall in points within the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC), accumulating a total of 683.40 points. At this year’s PCSC Championships, she scored 111 individual points—the fourth highest—while teammate Ali Pecore contributed another top-ten finish with 95 points. The Nanooks finished fifth overall at that meet.

Acting head coach Logan Indest said about Dancsok’s qualification: “It’s great to have the Nanooks back at NCAA Champs. Dorka has been putting in a tremendous amount of work all three seasons she’s been at UAF. It’s great to see that work be rewarded and I am excited to see her perform on the biggest stage.”
