The Nanooks women’s basketball team has added Desiree Redfox, a 5-foot-6 guard from Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, to its roster for the upcoming season. Redfox is entering her freshman year with the team.
Head coach Michael Ricks commented on the addition: “We’re excited to have Desiree as part of our program. She’s a hard worker who brings great energy every day, and her positive attitude makes her a valuable teammate. Having another player from Alaska in our program is also special, and we’re looking forward to the impact she’ll make.”
During her four years at Monroe Catholic, Redfox helped her team win the regional tournament each season she played. She was named to 15 All-Tournament teams over her high school career, including twice at the Aurora Conference Regionals.
Redfox expressed gratitude for joining the Nanooks: “I’m so blessed to have this opportunity to continue playing the sport I love. I want to thank the coaches for welcoming me into the women’s basketball program, and my family and friends for always supporting me throughout my basketball journey.”
With Redfox’s arrival, the team’s roster now stands at 17 players. The Nanooks will start their season with an exhibition game against Oregon State on Sunday, November 2. Their regular season begins at home during the North Star Invitational presented by Mt. McKinley Bank from November 14 through November 16.
