The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team has secured its first appearance in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament. After finishing the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and a 14-4 mark in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), the Nanooks have been seeded fifth for the 2025 NCAA West Region Championships.
This season, Alaska achieved a milestone by winning a share of the GNAC Championship, marking the program’s first conference title. The team’s performance throughout the season ensured their spot among eight teams competing in the West Region tournament.
The field includes Point Loma Sea Lions, Simon Fraser Red Leafs, Fresno Pacific Sunbirds, Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, Western Washington Vikings, Central Washington Wildcats, and Cal State San Bernardino Yotes.
Alaska will begin regional play against their in-state rival and fourth-seeded Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, December 4 at 7 p.m. PST in San Diego. The winner of this match will move on to face either top-seeded Point Loma or eighth-seeded Cal State San Bernardino in the round of 32 on Friday, December 5.
“Alaska’s historic season included capturing a share of the GNAC Championship—the first conference title in program history. Their performance secured the Nanooks’ place in a deep and competitive West Region field,” according to an official statement from the team.
