The Alaska Nanooks rifle team secured a 4724-4676 win over the No. 17-ranked Army team on Saturday in West Point, New York. This marks the fifth victory of the season for the Nanooks, who now hold a 5-0 overall record and are 3-0 in PRC competition.
Alaska achieved its second-highest aggregate score of the season during this match. The team outperformed Army in both smallbore and air rifle disciplines, winning smallbore with a score of 2343-2328 and air rifle with a score of 2381-2348.
Lucie Kissenberger led all competitors with an individual aggregate score of 1187-88x. She was joined by three other Nanooks in the top five: Teagan Perkowski (1179-79x), Marshall Schmidt (1179-77x), and Noah Meierotto (1177-69x). Army shooters placed fifth and sixth, while Alaska’s Julianna Hays (1171-68x), Tobias Bernhoft-Osa (1166-69x), and Sadie Palfrey (1161-63x) rounded out the top ten.
In smallbore, Alaska claimed six of the top seven individual spots. Kissenberger posted the highest smallbore score at 591-39x. Other notable performances included Schmidt in third place (586-28x) and Amanda Pettersen in fourth (584-32x). Hays, Perkowski, and Meierotto followed closely behind, each posting scores above 580. Sadie Palfrey finished tenth with a score of 580-27x.
Tobias Bernhoft-Osa and Matthew Stout also contributed to Alaska’s smallbore results with scores of 576-25x and 568-23x respectively.
In air rifle competition, Teagan Perkowski recorded the top score at 597-53x. Four more Nanooks were among the leading performers: Kissenberger took second with a score of 596-49x; Meierotto placed third at 595-43x; Schmidt was fourth at 593-49x; and Bernhoft-Osa finished sixth at 590-44x. Hays and Stout placed eighth and ninth respectively, while Palfrey completed Alaska’s lineup with a score of 581-36x.
The Nanooks are scheduled to compete again tomorrow against both Army and Navy at West Point.
