The Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team has announced its schedule for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Frank Ostanik and his staff will lead the team through a slate that includes 13 home games at the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium and 15 games on the road. The schedule also features two tournaments in Anchorage before Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) play begins.
This season, several theme nights are planned to engage fans. These include Halloween Night on October 31 against the Seattle Mountaineers, Sports Jersey Night and UAF Night in early November against Pacific Union, Books from the ‘Nooks and Toy Drive in December against West Coast Baptist, Indigenous Appreciation in January versus Seattle Pacific, Elementary Night in February against Northwest Nazarene, Go Pink with the ‘Nooks later that month against Saint Martin’s, and Senior Day on February 28 versus Western Oregon. The annual Pack the Patty Night is scheduled for January 17 when Alaska Anchorage visits Fairbanks; organizers hope to draw at least 1,000 people to the Patty Center. Attendees will have a chance to win an Alaska Airlines ticket during this event.
“We are very excited about this year’s schedule,” said Ostanik. “I love that we have the opportunity to play so many games within the state, both at home and in two separate tournaments in Anchorage, which will allow the fans, players and coaches from across Alaska to see firsthand the direction our program is headed. Of course, it will also be nice to get to Hawaii as well before Christmas.”
The Nanooks will host their Alumni Game on October 25 at Alaska Airlines Gymnasium. They follow with two home scrimmages against Seattle Mountaineers before starting regular season play with back-to-back games versus Pacific Union on November 5 and 6. Their first away games take place during the PacWest/GNAC Challenge in Anchorage mid-November against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific. Later that month, they return to Anchorage for tournament action over Thanksgiving weekend facing Westmont and Cal Poly Humboldt.
Conference play starts December 4 with an away game at Western Oregon followed by a matchup at Saint Martin’s. The Nanooks then return home for two games against West Coast Baptist before heading to Hawaii for contests with West Virginia State and Hawaii Pacific just before Christmas.
In January, GNAC competition resumes at home with Western Washington and Simon Fraser visiting Fairbanks. The team then travels for matchups with Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene before hosting rival Alaska Anchorage on January 17. Additional home games follow against Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific.
At month’s end, Alaska travels to British Columbia for a game at Simon Fraser followed by another road contest at Western Washington. In February, they host Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington before spending two weeks away from Fairbanks—including a rematch with Alaska Anchorage—then closing out regular season travel with visits to Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings.
The regular season ends with home games against Saint Martin’s on February 26 and Western Oregon on February 28.
