The Alaska Nanooks will hold their annual Hall of Fame induction luncheon on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge in Fairbanks. The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will recognize nine individual inductees along with one team for their contributions to Nanooks athletics.

This year’s class includes the 2011 Women’s Cross Country Team, which was the first Alaska squad to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships and finished 17th nationally after a strong showing at the West Region meet.

Other honorees are Peter Alden (Cross Country/Nordic Skiing, 1987-93), who was the first Nanook to earn All-America honors in cross country and also qualified for the NCAA Skiing Championships; Sam Harthun (Volleyball, 2012-15), Alaska’s all-time kills leader and three-time First Team All-GNAC selection; Bente Heller (Swimming, 2010-14), Alaska’s first individual NCAA champion with a win in the 100 backstroke in 2013 and recipient of 14 All-America honors; Don Jamieson (Hockey, 1981-85), who moved from forward to defenseman and inspired an annual award named after him; Victoria Jones (Swimming, 2013-17), a six-time NCAA All-American recognized for her performances in backstroke and relay events; Russ Knapp (Hockey, 1966-69), an early-era goaltender honored with the William R. Cashen Service Award; Margot Lucchessi (Swimming, 2011-15), a two-time national runner-up with four straight PCSC titles in the butterfly; Darryl Lewis Sr. (Basketball, 1985-87), who scored over eight hundred points as a forward and served as captain; and Keith Street (Hockey, 1985-88), known for his scoring record over three seasons.

Tickets for the luncheon are available to the public at $50 per person or $500 for a reserved table. Purchases can be made online through Etix.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association sponsors the Nanook Hall of Fame. According to organizers, “The annual Hall of Fame luncheon recognizes individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to Nanooks athletics. Fans, alumni and community members are invited to join in celebrating the achievements and history of Alaska Athletics.”
