The Alaska Nanooks men’s ice hockey team has announced the addition of defenseman Liam Fleet to its roster for the upcoming season. Fleet, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 205 pounds, is from Denver, Colorado. He joins the Nanooks after playing with Shreveport in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Fleet played three seasons with the Shreveport Mudbugs in the NAHL and also appeared in two games for the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2024-25 season. His tenure with Shreveport began in 2022-23, when he participated in 47 games and recorded seven points, including two goals and five assists. He added three points during eight playoff games that season.
In his second year with Shreveport, Fleet was named captain and played in 60 games. He achieved a career-high of 31 points on seven goals and 24 assists, as well as one point across nine playoff appearances. In his final season with Shreveport, Fleet scored one goal and had eleven assists over thirty games.
Head coach Erik Largen commented on Fleet’s addition: “Liam is a smart, steady defenseman who makes a great first pass and defends with purpose,” said Largen. “He plays a physical brand of hockey. He’s a respectful, hard-working young man who brings a quiet confidence to our team. We are excited to welcome him to our family.”
Fleet plans to study business administration at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). He is the tenth newcomer announced by the program for the 2025-26 season.
